BeforethefoundingofthePeople’sRepublicofChina
February10,1931,RedOneThefirstradiotrainingclassofthearmystartedinXiaobuTown,NingduCounty,JiangxiProvince.
In1931,theCentralMilitaryCommission’sRadioSchoolwasestablishedinYangxi,Ruijin,Jiangxi.WangYuwastheprincipal.ItwasthefirstengineeringschooloftheCommunistPartyofChinaandtheRedArmy,foundedbyMaoZedongandotherrevolutionariesoftheoldergeneration.
In1932,theschoolmovedtoXialutounearRuijin,thentoPingshangangandrenamedtheRedArmyCommunicationSchool.
In1934,anadvancedclasswasaddedtoberesponsiblefortherotationofcadres.
In1935,theCentralRedArmybegantheLongMarch,andtheCommunicationSchoolwascodenamedtheRedStarThirdBrigade.InAugust,theRedStarThirdBrigademergedwiththeFourthFrontArmyReportingTrainingCourseandrestoredtoacommunicationsschool.Later,itmergedwiththeRadioSchoolinNorthernShaanxitoformtheMilitaryCommissionRadioCommunicationSchool.TheschoolwaslocatedatWayaobaoJiugoutai,andlatermovedtoYan'anPeizhuangandSanyuanYunyangTown.
InJanuary1937,theRadioCommunicationSchooloftheMilitaryCommissionmovedtoYan'anwiththePartyCentralCommittee.IthasbeenrunningschoolsinChuankouandYandianzi,Yan'anforalongtime.

In1941,ChairmanMaowroteaninscriptionfortheschooljournal"CommunicationWarrior":"Youaretheclairvoyantofscience."In1942,itwasrenamed"TelecommunicationsEngineeringSpecialSchool",withmajorsincluding:telecommunicationsengineeringteam,cableteam,cadre,andmaintenanceclass.
In1944,theMeteorologicalTeamoftheCentralMilitaryCommissionwascreated.
In1948,theThirdBureauTelecommunicationsTeamoftheCentralMilitaryCommissionwascreated.Later,theCentralMilitaryCommissionRadioCommunicationSchool,theShanxi-Hebei-LuyuMilitaryRegionTelecommunicationsEngineeringCollege,theShanxi-Hebei-LuyuMilitaryRegionTelecommunicationsEngineeringSchool,theCentralMilitaryCommission’sMeteorologicalTeam,andtheCentralMilitaryCommission’sThirdBureauTelecommunicationsTeammergedtoformtheNorthChinaMilitaryRegionTelecommunicationsEngineeringCollege.Therearethreeteams.
InJuly1949,theschoolmovedfromHuoluCountytoZhangjiakouandwasconvertedintoanengineeringschooloftheCentralMilitaryCommission.TheopeningceremonywasheldonNovember27.
AfterthefoundingofthePeople’sRepublicofChina
InMay1952,theCentralMilitaryCommissionorderedthatthefirstpartoftheCentralMilitaryCommission’sEngineeringSchoolwaschangedtotheChinesePeople’sLiberationArmyCommunicationEngineeringInstitute,andthesecondpartwaschangedtotheChinesePeople’sLiberationArmyForeignLanguagesInstitute.,ThethreedepartmentswerechangedtotheChinesePeople’sLiberationArmyConfidentialCadreSchoolandmovedtoChangchun.Later,themainbodyoftheDepartmentofTelecommunicationsofDalianInstituteofTechnology(nowDalianUniversityofTechnology)andtheDepartmentofEngineeringofSouthwestCommunicationSchoolweremergedintotheInstituteofCommunicationEngineeringoftheChinesePeople'sLiberationArmy.
In1955,theChinesePeople’sLiberationArmyMilitaryCommunicationEngineeringCollegewasrenamedtheChinesePeople’sLiberationArmyCommunicationCollege.
In1958,itmovedtoXi’an,andtheChinesePeople’sLiberationArmyCommunicationsAcademywasrenamedtheChinesePeople’sLiberationArmyCommunicationsAcademy.

In1959,itwasidentifiedasoneofthefirstbatchof20nationalkeyuniversitiesbythecentralgovernment.InJanuary1960,theChinesePeople’sLiberationArmySignalCorpsAcademywasrenamedtheChinesePeople’sLiberationArmyMilitaryTelecommunicationsEngineeringAcademy.Ithas22majorsandstartedtorecruitgraduatestudentsin10majors,makingitthelargestmodernmilitaryengineeringtechnologyschoolinthehistoryofthePeople’sLiberationArmy.
OnSeptember1,1963,theSignalCorpswasplacedundertheleadershipoftheNationalDefenseScienceandTechnologyCommission.

OnApril1,1966,hewithdrewfromthemilitarysequence,ThePLAMilitaryTelecommunicationsEngineeringCollegewasrenamedNorthwestTelecommunicationsEngineeringCollege.
In1980,theMinistryofElectronicsIndustrymadethedecisionof"WesternPower’sassistanceintheconstructionofGuidianPower,ChengduPower’sassistanceintheconstructionofHangzhouPower".LeaderofGuidianSchool.
InNovember1981,withtheapprovaloftheStateCouncil,theschoolbecamethefirstbatchofdoctoralandmaster'sdegreegrantingunitsinthecountry.

InJanuary1988,NorthwestTelecommunicationsEngineeringCollegewasrenamedXidianUniversity.
InApril1994,theschool’s"211Project"successfullypassedthepre-examinationbydepartmentexperts.

In2004,theMinistryofEducationandChinaElectronicsTechnologyGroupsignedanagreementtojointlybuildschools.Thesouthcampusoftheschoolwasputintouse.
In2007,theschoolwasselectedasthefirstbatchof60schoolsundertheNationalUniversityStudentInnovativeExperimentalProgram.
InJanuary2008,theMinistryofEducation,theCommissionforScience,TechnologyandIndustryforNationalDefenseandShaanxiProvincesignedanagreementtobuildaschool.TheMinistryofEducationsupportedschoolstointegratetheadvantagesofnationaldefenseplatforms,andtheCommissionforScience,TechnologyandIndustryforNationalDefensesupportedschoolstobuildnationaldefensescienceandtechnologyexperiments.room.Theschool'sfirst985platform(advancedmilitaryintegratedelectronicinformationsystemadvantagedisciplineinnovationplatform)wasapprovedforconstruction.
InJune2010,theschoolwasselectedintothefirstbatchof61universitiesintheMinistryofEducation's"OutstandingEngineerEducationandTrainingProgram".

In2012,theschoolwasselectedintothefirstbatchof41nationalyouthcollegesciencecamps,andtheNingboInformationTechnologyResearchInstituteofXidianUniversitywasestablished.
In2013,theKunshanGraduateSchoolofXidianUniversitywasinaugurated.Inthesameyear,itwasselectedasanationaldemonstrationbasefortraininginnovativetalents.
In2014,theInformationPerceptionTechnologyCollaborativeInnovationCenterpassedthe"2011Plan"nationalcertification;inthesameyear,itwasapprovedtoestablishthefifth"QianXuesenClass"incollegesanduniversitiesacrossthecountry.
In2016,theNationalDefenseScience,TechnologyandIndustryBureauandtheMinistryofEducationcontinuedtojointlybuildschools,becomingoneofthetwokeyuniversitiesinthecountrythatwereselectedforthreeconsecutiveroundsbytheNationalDefenseScienceandIndustryBureauandtheMinistryofEducation.
In2017,theschoolwasselectedasoneofthefirstbatchof7world-classcybersecuritycollegesandthefirstbatchofnational"doublefirst-class"keyconstructionuniversities.Informationandcommunicationengineeringandcomputerscienceandtechnologywereselectedastwofirst-leveldisciplines"Listofworld-classdisciplines.Inthesameyear,theschoolwasselectedasoneofthe19nationaldoubleinnovationdemonstrationbaseuniversities.
In2018,theWuhuResearchInstitute(GraduateSchool)ofXidianUniversitywasestablished.
In2019,theNationalIntegratedCircuitIndustryandEducationIntegrationDevelopmentAlliancewasestablished,andtheschoolwaselectedasthechairmanunit.TheschoolbecameafoundingmemberoftheChinaArtificialIntelligenceEducationAssociationandrankedamong11standingdirectorunits.QingdaoInstituteofComputingTechnology(GraduateSchool)ofXidianUniversitywasestablished.
In2020,theGuangzhouResearchInstitute(GraduateSchool)ofXidianUniversitywillbeestablished.InSeptember,itwasselectedasthesecondbatchofscientificandtechnologicalachievementstransformationandtechnologytransferbasesofcollegesanduniversities.InOctober,itwasdesignatedbytheStateIntellectualPropertyOfficeandtheMinistryofEducationasthe2020NationalIntellectualPropertyPilotUniversity.InNovember,HangzhouResearchInstitute(GraduateSchool)ofXidianUniversitywasestablished.
InJanuary2021,theXi'anMunicipalGovernmentissuedadocument:SupportingXidianUniversitytoestablisha“world-classuniversity”.InJune,joinedtheShaanxiUniversityRevolutionaryCultureInheritanceAlliance.
