ChinaInternetNetworkInformationCenter(CNNIC)wasestablishedonJune3,1997andisnowtheOfficeoftheCentralNetworkSecurityandInformationCommission(TheNationalInternetInformationOffice)directlysubordinateinstitutions,andperformthedutiesoftheNationalInternetInformationCenter.Asanimportantinfrastructurebuilder,operatorandmanagerofChina’sinformationsociety,theChinaInternetNetworkInformationCenter(CNNIC)isresponsiblefortheoperation,managementandserviceofthenationalnetworkbasicresources,undertakesthetechnicalresearchanddevelopmentofthenationalnetworkbasicresourcesandguaranteessecurity,anddevelopstheInternetDevelopresearchandprovideconsulting,promoteglobalInternetopencooperationandtechnicalexchanges,andconstantlyseektobecomeaworld-classInternetinformationcenterwith"professional,responsibilityandservice".

Theoperation,managementandserviceorganizationofbasicnationalnetworkresources
CNNICisthedomainnameregistryanddomainnamerootinmycountryServeroperatingorganization.Responsiblefortheoperationandmanagementofthenationaltop-leveldomainname.CN,Chinesedomainnamesystem,andprovideglobaluserswithuninterrupteddomainnameregistration,domainnameresolutionandWHOISqueryserviceswithprofessionaltechnology.
CNNICisamemberoftheNationalIPAddressRegistrationInstitution(NIR)oftheAsia-PacificInternetNetworkInformationCenter(APNIC).TheIPAddressAllocationAlliance,convenedbyCNNIC,isresponsibleforprovidingIPaddressandASnumberallocationmanagementservicesformycountry’sInternetServiceProviders(ISPs)andInternetusers,andactivelypromotesmycountry’stransitiontothedevelopmentofthenextgenerationInternetrepresentedbyIPv6.

OrganizationalStructure
TheWorkingCommitteeofChinaInternetNetworkInformationCenter(CNNICSteeringComittee,referredtoasCNNICSC)wasestablishedonMay28,1997.TheresearchdecisionwasestablishedonthebasisoftheexpertgroupoftheChinaInternetNetworkInformationCenter.
ThepurposeofestablishingtheCNNICWorkingCommitteeistoensureandpromotethehealthydevelopmentofmycountry’sInternet,strengthenthemanagementofmycountry’sInternetdomainnamesystem,andsuperviseandevaluatethespecificworkofCNNIC.
The6thCNNICWorkingCommitteewasestablishedinBeijinginDecember2012.
