TheChinaVentureCapitalResearchInstituteisactivelypromotedbytheformerViceChairmanoftheStandingCommitteeoftheNationalPeople’sCongressandthe“FatherofVentureCapitalinChina”Mr.ChengSiweiandtheformerPresidentofHongKongPolytechnicUniversityWiththestrongsupportofMr.PanZongguang,apolicyresearchandconsultingthinktankwasformallyestablishedinJuly2003.Sinceitsestablishment,theInstitutehasmadesignificantcontributionstotheimprovementofmycountry’sventurecapitalpolicyenvironment,promotingcooperationandexchangesbetweendomesticandforeignventurecapitalindustries,facilitatingthesuccessfulconnectionofventurecapitalandoutstandingprojects,andtraininglocalventurecapitalistsandentrepreneurs.Ithasbeenhighlypraisedbynationalleaders,ministriesandcommissions,venturecapitalistsandentrepreneursathomeandabroad,andhasbecomeaprofessionalserviceplatformforthefirstbrandofventurecapitalinChina.

TheResearchInstitutewasjointlyestablishedbytheHongKongPolytechnicUniversityandChinaVentureCapitalCo.,Ltd.,headquarteredattheHongKongPolytechnicUniversity,GuangzhouNanshaEquityInvestmentFundManagementCo.,Ltd.wasestablishedinGuangzhouasitscoreoperatingheadquartersinChina,andSetupanoperatingorganizationinShenzhen--ShenzhenChinaInvestmentVentureCapitalResearchandDevelopmentCo.,Ltd.,andsetup7branchesorofficesinvariousregionsofthecountry:SouthChina—Guangzhou,Shenzhen,EastChina—Shanghai,NorthChina—Beijing,CentralChina—Hefei,Northeast—Shenyang,West-Chengdu,therearemorethan60researchteamsandprofessionalservicepersonnel,andwillexpandtomorethan100inthenearfuture.Thebranch/officehasestablishedcloseinteractionandcooperationwiththecentralministriesandcommissions,localgovernmentsandenterprises.

InternationalforumsareheldalternatelyinGuangzhouandShenzhen,andhavebeenheldfor10consecutivesessions,becomingalandmarkforumforventurecapitalinChina.In2008(the10th)ChinaVentureCapitalForum,investors,entrepreneurs,andpolicymakersfromdozensofcountriesandregionsincludingChina,theUnitedStates,Europe,Asia,etc.Thetotalnumberofparticipantsexceeded1,500,withmorethan130speakers,Morethan100domesticandforeignmediarushedtoreport.Inaddition,regionalChinaVentureCapitalForumshavebeenheldinvariousregionsacrossthecountry:Northeast-Shenyang,Central-Hefei,coastalareas-Dalian,West-Chengdu,whichstronglypromotedtheformulationanddevelopmentofventureinvestmentpoliciesinunderdevelopedregions.TheseregionswillBecomeahotspotforChina'seconomicdevelopmentinthenext10to20years.Morethan100venturecapitalistsandpolicymakersattendedeachregionalforum.

Thenationalcapital-projectmatchmakingmeetingwasheldinShenzhen.Asthepreferredplatformforintroducingventurecapitalandlookingforinvestmentandfinancingopportunities,throughholdinglarge-scaleexhibition-stylematchmakingmeetings,overallprojectrecommendations,andselectionofcompanieswiththemostinvestmentvalue,Specialfinancingroadshowsandotherseriesofactivities.From2006to2008,morethan100venturecapitalinstitutionsandmorethan1,000companiesparticipatedintheroadshowmatchmakingmeeting;inaddition,aregionalcapital-projectmatchmakingmeetingwasalsoheldineachregion:NorthChina-Shenyang,CentralChina-Hefei,coastalareas-Dalian,inviteIDGVC,DFJ,HandingAsiaPacific,CapitalToday,PukaiInvestment,NorthernLightVentureCapital,OrchidAsia,ShenzhenInnovationInvestment,ChinaMerchantsTechnology,etc.tomaintainlong-termstrategiccooperationwiththeresearchinstituteRelationsbetweenChineseandforeignventurecapitalinstitutionshavecometoconductface-to-face,zero-distanceinvestmentandfinancingnegotiationswithlocaloutstandingcompanies,whichhaspromotedmoreandmorecompaniestoachievesuccessfulfinancingandcooperation,andachieverapidbusinessdevelopment.
